Obama urges students to work hard

Obama gave a speech at Wakefield High School today, urging the students to study hard. Obama urges students to work hard, stay in school http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/08/obama.school.speech/index.html He has a good reason to do so despite criticism from some parents accusing him of having political motives. American students are known for falling behind international standard, especially in Math and Science. America has been prospering because it has been able to keep many bright and promising workers in exchange for the American dream. Now the American dream seems fading, educated domestic and foreign students are tempted to venture out, and with the ever growing health care expense, even if the current financial crisis will recover eventually, a stable and strong work force needs to be in place. Sadly, such dependable work force is not foreseeable. ...

Hollow breakpoints...

While trying to pinpoint where a bug was in VS.NET 2008, the breakpoints I set became hollow… I was like @#$%#$%^#$. The error message is “Breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols loaded for this document.” So I was like, easy, just delete all the temp files and restart. Well, not that easy, the breakpoints decided to stay hollow… Call me stupid, I try that again, still the same. ...

District 9

I finally got a chance to watch District 9, after hearing so much about it. For those of you not knowing what it is, here is the trailer: [youtube &hl=en&fs=1&] District 9 Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSgLOvH_MMk But you know what, the trailer really doesn’t tell you much about the movie. I didn’t have much idea about the movie either before stepping into the theater. ...

Making Chrome the default browser

If you have Chrome, I am sure you are enjoying the fast speed of page loading and other good stuff that comes along with it. I got sucked into the Chrome environment that I decided to make it my default browser. See below. One day, I realized Chrome was not supported by some of the websites I visited, or maybe the other way around Chrome didn’t support them. I was like, oh well, I guess I just have to switch back to my trusty firefox then. I went to the setting tab above, and I was like, how can I un-press that button? ...

NOOMA

I just finished watching all of the NOOMA videos from 1 to 20. NOOMA is a series of short films produced by Flannel promoting spiritual perspectives on individual life experiences. The storyteller Rob Bell is the founding pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church. Each video is about 10 to 15 minutes. The videos are so great that, I just don’t know how to put into words. Let’s just say, you know the guy is giving a message, but you are so deep into his story that you are just enjoying his story while taking in his message at the same time. These videos/messages are based on real life experience and biblical truth, and are presented in simple day-to-day words and images. ...

Did You Know 3.0

Pretty amazing! I can testify to this one fact: For students starting a 4 year technical degree this means that… half of what they learn in their first year of study will be outdated by their third year of study.
